Probably at least 15 years old so appreciate probably not worth it but...

Using the gun last night, only had occasional DIY use over the years, started stripping some reclaimed skirting boards I got from the house next door. Worked for 5 minutes then just cut out.

Checked fuse, all fine, checked continuity through flex and through the switch which still it still working. However no heat and no power to the fan. Wires go from switch to small PCB with potentiometer for temperature control.

I don't know what to check for here, assume it's an issue with the PCB and a gun replacement being about £20 probably not worth messing with.

But thought I'd post just case anyone has any suggestions before I take the plunge and buy a new one.

Only that they do have a thermostat inside them that cuts the power to the gun if it overheats. That should reset automatically and if it doesn't the gun is knackered so probably best to buy a new one.
