Hello,

I had this window installed two years ago and have an issue during the colder season where black mold appears when we have damp weather.

Could this be related to a badly installed window?

or is this something else?

I’ve been advised by the window company that it could be due to porus brickwork, but are the trying to fob me off?

Can't say if you have fault there, but wipe over with anti mould spray from supermarket. Will take a while to work and a good idea to use a small paint brush to apply. Leave for 10 mins than damp cloth. It's safe to uses on plastic but I prefer not to get everywhere other than where it's needed as contains bleach. Warm house cold walls creates condensation and often the silicone with go mouldy if not treated. There is a also vc175 anti mould you can brush on

This is the top of the window.

I have been wiping the mould away, but the paint is peeling.

There has been talk of drip trays missing from cavities and I've seen a few where water drips in and I've suspected this to be the problem. If you never had this problem prior to new windows being fitted then you need to call them back. Don't look good though. Could be water from the above window if one running down cavity that's supposed to be caught by cavity tray

Brick is porous.
