Hi,
Could someone please help me with what is the black paint I see at the bottom of houses on the exterior? I assume it’s some waterproof paint. Mine has worn off so looking to repaint this summer.... but I don’t know what to buy. Please advise.
Thanks.

it's probably intended to conceal (it will not cure) damp.

please post some photos.

Especially around any airbricks, drains and gullies.

Look for signs or cracked, repaired or sunken paving, or levels that have been raised since the house was buit.

look for the damp course. You might be able to see it under door sills.

Hi,

The paint is starting to peel off, so want to repaint it. Attached image of an area at the back of the house.
Kindly advise.

Thanks.

you can use black masonry paint if you want to.

and deal with the damp problem another time. it has the faults I expected. Observe the limescale or soap crust on the waste pipe, and the green moss on the paving.
