I have a large concrete drive which is stable apart from a 3' x 15'area at one side. This strip does not really bear the weight of a car, usually just for walking on (it was added to the drive by the original builders and, though complete, has sunk about 1") Is it possible to cover the whole area with black tarmac or the like, it would be quite a job removing all the present concrete, I thought if it was well roughed first ??

I just happen to have some tarmac left from a job , Guv ;) It`ll need a spray with Tack Coat on the concrete first - that`ll sort it

The spouse tells me she is now unsure about the tarmac and now likes the idea of a layer of "stamped" over the top (this could go on for ever!) Is this feasible.

If by stamped you mean pattern imprinted concrete you could in theory put this over the top but if your spending that sort of money it'd be better to just remove and replace it.

You could get resin bound gravel over it which is nice and ok for a large drive or one which requires no turning, i.e straight in reverse out

You can also tarmac or asphalt over concrete, get some quotes from specialised contractors as you can guess from Nige's reply there are numerous cowboys who will simply throw it on top regardless of whether its suitable or not and not tack coat it properly either
