filled oil tank having let the tank become empty?
Was the boiler running when the tank emptied?

I have used the plug to the bottom right of the braided hose, NOT the one above it with the slot, slacken the plug with the boiler off or even remove it and when oil dribbles out replace it but do not tighten, fire up the boiler and then retighten the plug.

Thank you so much, will do tomorrow morning in daylight. I think it was turned on when I ran out of oil.
