block and beam floor - what should the beams be resting on?

our builders started work on the floor, they're looking to build up to DPC today. we're going with a block and beam floor, as recommended.

they just laid the beams but they're resting on loose bricks both ends. builder said this is fine and they don't have to be cemented in. for the record, there will still be a complete cavity wall around the beams, so there's nowhere for the floor to slide. is this ok? basically a floating floor. also, are facing bricks good enough for that or do they have to be engineering bricks?

My bad, they are being cemented.

usually the beams sit on the internal cavity skin -generally high density concrete blocks.

the beam supplier often supplies concrete slips to fill the gap where the infill floor blocks sits higher than the concrete blocks the beams sit on.

There should also be a DPC under the beams.....
