Block Plane

I'm going to invest in a new block plane, what's the best one for around £20-40. It's just for a bit of Joinery DIY. I've currently got a cheap one I bought from Toolstation, it does the job but the blade goes dull quickly & it's not easy to adjust.

It's funny how the wee block plane is dead popular now, all the Joiners use them & you'd never see them on sites when I started work in the 70s.
Any Joiners out here still use a Yankee Screwdriver??
Thanks chaps

Here, what do you think of the latest news; Eire will be rejoining the UK!!

I'd go for the low angle version of the block plane if your work entails much in the way of end grain planing. Veritity of prices, the Lie neilsons on the Axminster site look good but are very nearly £100 over your budget. Stanley do one in the bracket you are looking at http://www.toolstop.co.uk/stanley-5-12-060-60.1/2-fully-adjustable-low-angle-block-plane-p1965

I've got a yankee but it doesn't come out with me anymore , superseded by a cordless  . Their demise was rubbed into me a few years ago when visiting a scrapyard when I saw a bloke hammering the hinge pin out of a car door with a yankee and a lump hammer

I have a Stanley block plane , low angle with adjustable mouth. Probably my favourite tool to use. ;) ;)
