Hi, we had a new modular sink installed in our ensuite about 6 months ago with a pop-up spring plug. It has a very small gap for drainage and was never a fast drainer when emptying. Recently, it seems to have become blocked - although this basin is mainly only used for teeth and washing face and hands and we are puzzled what has caused the problem. How do we take the spring plug out and can we use a sink plunger on the hole, to clear the blockage. Is pushing a wire down a good idea, or must the u-trap be dismantled from below. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

as it`s always been slow - I would take the trap off and run a sani- snake down the pipe - line the cupboard with old sheets etc. and be prepared for a bit of mess ;) though it`s only old soap it can congeal and reduce the size of the pipe quite a bit . More thorough than a plunger I reckon ;)

Plug should just screw off.

Take the trap off and clean it out. If clear and still blocked put some One Shot cleaner down it. :D
