my head hurts, has anybody got 1 of these? my hot water has all of a sudden gone luke warm in the bathroom, but down stairs in the kitchen the hot does get hot after waiting for a bit. When i lower the taps in the bath rm the water does sort of try to go hot its weird. the c/h is fine, any ideas as i phoned tech support at ideal and they said it could be the dhw thermistor?

Let the heating go cold, then turn on a hot tap.

Does the flow pipe for the heating under the boiler on the left get warm/hot?

If so join the club of yet another in the long growing list of disgruntled Ideal owners, as it will be the diverter valve stuck.

Tech support sounds about as good as ever as well

thanks for tht, i have already tried this and it seems ok, the strange thing is tht the kitchen tap does get hot and ths downstairs futher away from the boiler than the bathroom hot?

Try turning off the cold mains supply into the boiler.(with the isolating valve under the boiler).
Does the water from the hot tap totally stop?

reason kitchen tap gets hot is because you are asking it to hat less volume than from your bathroom tap.

Try running your bathroom tap slower and see if it heats up!

May not be your divertor valve and could be the plate exchanger. Had quite a few that are 3 or 4 years old that have either scaled up or have the contents of the rads in them!

no ile have to try isolating it under the boiler, i have turned the tap so the water flows less and it does heat up? only in the bathroom thow? are the plate heat exchanges easy to fix?

plate heat ex's are easy, isolate drain heating, isolate cold feed open hot water tap, undo 2 screws probably with allen key and replace

gas4you, I am Impressed with your knowledge of ideal boilers.
I assume that you are a breakdown engineer across most manufacturers.
Yes I too have an ideal isar, HE, and fitted the boiler prior to the law of installing condensing boilers. The Isar's had fundermental problems, and I believed that they had corrected them. (firing up on preheat etc.).
The system was new, across the install, and at that time I had the option for the ideal isar He, or the valliant HE. I would assume that I made the Incorrect choice !.
The Idea engineers have been great (thankfully I took out insurance). But the long term view, probably will be replacing the boiler.
Once again many thanks for your posts, very precise and to the point.
Most appreciated.

Well if you have hot water from one tap and not another thats got nothing to do with the boiler - IF there is an issue with the PHEX you would expect ALL DHW to be poor!!
