Could someone let me know if £700 for a total replacement of the PCB on the above boiler model (including a £60 +vat callout charge) sounds reasonable? It just sounds like a lot of money. Before tax and callout its £533.

er..yeh thats a bit much  the words forth and multiply come to mind

I charge £310 inc VAT to change a pcb on these and I'm not cheap

british gas would be £168 (subject to area) which includes parts and labour.. not bad to say the part is nearly £200!!!

you were fleeced when you bought the boiler to start with! expect MANY more problems.

And when it's likely that something simple like a 50p transistor & a 1/2p resistor is all thats gone on it, yes of course your being fleeced.

I'd have thought you could get a new boiler for that.

I was recently charged £200 for the replacement PCB and the fix, with six months warranty (CORGI regd)

The RRP for the board is £271.34
Some companies' normal procedure is to charge for a callout, plus the time to go and get the part up to an hour, plus the time to change it.
Total time could be 2 hours say, more if it was intermittent meaning diagnosis wasn't easy.
Much more than £400 would be pushing it rather.

It's all very well saying BG or someone else charge this or that, but not everyone finds their service acceptable. One lady took 3 half days off work for a fixed price repair - they never turned up.
If you call someone as an energency, expect to pay more.
