Blue flash from 1 gang to 2 gang socket converter

I've just replaced a 1 gang socket in my living room with a Volex 1 gang to 2 gang socket converter. I plugged an iron in to test both the sockets, both worked sockets but I noticed when I turned off one of them that there was a blue flash when I flicked the switch off.

This doesn't seem normal to me, so what could the problem be?

Jings!

I get a similar blue flash when plugging in my Apple Macbook charger and they say not to worry about it, still doesn't seem normal to me!

You could think of the two wires of the Jacobs Ladder as representing the position of the switch contacts over time...

I have my own theory on the phenomenon, I think what you're seeing is Cherenkov Radiation*
