Have you installed the 'BT Broadband Desktop Help' ?? That will carry out some basic simple tests for you.
Just carried out some software downloads 114 MB
at reported 246 KB/sec via the Opera browser download manager.
I believe this is approx (at 1000 Bytes to the KB) 1,968,000 bits on a nominally 2.2 Mb connection... 89% more or less .. Using more than 15 ft of Belkin extension cable one end jammed into the old adsl filter the other up the chuff of a Thomson Speedtouch 330 usb modem (yep, not usb 2 ) All pretty much the inverse of 'state of the art'...
