I've had our gas fire removed and gas feed capped (by a gas safe engineer) and have now stripped the mantel/hearth etc out.
I've taken all the firebox boards off the back and sides to get back to the breeze block to install an external air brick for ventilation.
Do I need to do anything at the throat of the chimney before boarding? Looking up the chimney in narrows at the throat with black boards attached (or what look like black boards similar to those in the firebox). Can these just stay in place?
