Reminds me of the 2 seater aircraft that crashed into a Dublin cemetery.
Police say they have so far recovered 65 bodies and believe the count may rise. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

this "6 foot deep" thing, is that to the bottom of the hole or the top of the casket?
don't the dimensions depend on the ocupant of the casket is and if it is to the top, do the diggers phone up the funeral home and ask for the measurements?

So wrong, but so funny.

Ages ago, our news reported the bodies of two men found hacked to death in a house - police were treating it as suspicious - you don't say!

Have you ever noticed that churches look sunken on their foundations? It's not the case, it's because the churchyard has risen, because the dead are buried on top of the dead, over many centuries.

Stop being silly.

It's true! Ask a vicar! Next time you see a church, you will notice this, with a densly populated churchyard, the church is at a lower level than the grounds, because the ground is full of dead people, not because the church has settled. Dig a 6 foot hole, fill it with coffin, fill back in with 6 foot of fill, it's no longer 6 feet deep, it's 6 feet plus the height of the coffin.

Nah, mate you're avin' us on.

You mean to say they dig a 6' hole, lower a coffin into it, fill it with soil, then add a bit on top to account for the height of the coffin?

The 'soil on top' is the same soil that came out of the hole it's just that the hole has the extra material now... 'a coffin', therefore the soil that came out makes a mound.

I think the bit about the land being higher than the church is bolax though.
