I seem to recall the old cast iron has an internal taper. So don't cut
So may not take the modern wc fitting's as the id is an odd size compared to modern fittings????
Only because a college spent a age cutting his down as a last job and the could not get the new fittings in the old pipe

Have this loo to install, was going to cut back [cast iron] with grinder close to wall and fit connector, any better method
put a new blade in a hacksaw and cut through the top of the pipe (about 15mm behind the faucet) till the whole blade is inside the pipe (approx12-15mm depth, which will make a slot about 50mm long) then skelp (technical term) the faucet with 2lb hammer and the whole thing will come straight off with a perfectly straight cut,
the pipe looks like 3 1/2" so buy a multikwik Extention B and it will go straight in
Tried the cut and hammer, nearly broke cleanly but had to trim with a grinder, turns out it was 4" pipe not the 3 1/2".
ach well i was nearly right, did you wince a bit before you skelped it?
