1. I have a fully pumped Y plan with a 3 wire programmer (broken). Can I change it for any 3 wire programmer or do I need to choose a compatible one?
(My programmer isn't on any comparison table)

2. Can I by-pass the programmer and change my room stat for a programmable one?
If I do this, how will the hot water be switched on/off (other than by the existing cylinder stat)? The H/W is currently programmed to turn off at 08.30 a.m

3. Could I keep my current programmer set as is (this bit still works) and use a room programmable stat to control heating and would this be a better option than a replacement all-in programmer?

It would be helpful to know what programmer you have, somebody may be able to give you a straight replacement suggestion. A photo will do if you can't find the model.
