Boiler cutting out

I have an old Thorn EMI Apollo boiler.

Recently, whenever the hot water or heating is switched on, all the boiler does is go in to a cycle of ignition, loud banging, cutting out followed by re-ignition. This cycle is repeated every 10-15 seconds and carries on till the system is switched off.

Needless to say that I get little or no hot water/heating. I am freezing ..please help!!

check your central heating pump see if its running if not replace pump

Before you replace the pump, undo the fat screw in the end and turn the spindle with a screwdriver. If the pump is not running, it could be just stuck.

Was it the pump and was the rapic on/off cycling solved ?
