In a couple of situations where it would have been impossible or difficult to fit anything else, I have fitted a Fernox Boiler Buddy. They're not the best filter system on the market, but after removing and cleaning those that I installed, I found they collected quite a lot of rust particles.
They fit inline with the return pipe as close to boiler as possible, between a couple of pump valves that you will also need to install.

Perfect, this is something that will work, and shouldnt be too hard to install
I was looking at mine, and I have a spirotap mb3. If this can be fitted, are these any better?
The MB3 claims to trap non-magnetic debris as well as magnetite. In theory, it should be better, although you will find that most debris seems to be rust flakes and particles.
I have only fitted a few of the older Spiros without the external magnets. They didn't trap a lot, but with the magnets, they should be better. My brother has a BB fitted, and when I clean it yearly/ every 18 months, there is a lot of rust on the magnetic fins inside.
At the end of the day, nothing beats a Magnaclean for removal of debris, but if space is limited, a lesser filter is better than nothing.
