Boiler firing up for hot water but not CH?

Hi I recently had my boiler (Vokera - Linea 24) switched off for just over a year and when I turned it back on everything seemed fine except it is now not firing up for the central heating yet when I turn on the hot water tap it fires up right away perfectly but simply goes off again when I turn off the tap and does not switch to the main central heating system, does anyone have any ideas why this is occuring and what the remedy might be? the boiler is dated 03.
