Our boiler has just stopped working. There's no display on the boiler and no lights on the thermostat on the wall. I've checked wiring, no fuses tripped etc, it's just these two things that are dead. Any ideas before I call out an engineer?

I've checked wiring, no fuses tripped etc,
I don't know how to access the boiler.Any internal fuses on the boiler circuit board?
One is the main power to the boiler and the other is the cable from the thermostat to the boiler.Where do the two cables in the second picture running off to the right go?
That is also connected to the burglar alarm which is still working weirdly enoughDo you mean on your main fuse board?
Have you looked for a fused spur?
And checked the 3 amp fuse in that?
That could be because it has an internal rechargeable battery. Is the 'mains' light on the burglar alarm illuminated? That is also connected to the burglar alarm which is still working weirdly enough![]()
Ah well, if you are getting power to the boiler but nothing is powering up, it is more than likely the PCB if it doesn’t have an internal fuse. What is the make and model of boiler? The alarm goes off if you turn the switch off. I've just tried a new fuse but no joy.![]()

You need to test to see if the boiler is getting power, maybe not something you can do.The alarm goes off if you turn the switch off. I've just tried a new fuse but no joy.

Just had a go at that but nothing happened. The wireless thermostat receiver, is also not indicating it has mains power. They are normally externally powered, but on the same supply source as the boiler - which suggests the issue is external to the boiler, rather than an internal issue.
OP needs to try switching the MCB off, then back on, to make sure it is on, and recheck all switches and fuses are OK. Some MCB's/RCBO, don't flip all the way down, when off.
