The boiler is on a timer set to come on in the morings and evenings.
All works fine. At the weekends I've wanted the heating on during the day also so have used the override on the timer to turn on the boiler. Quite often the boiler will not fire if I try again an hour or two later it usually fires although not always. If it does fire it then does not always come on later on the timer. The timer indicators light up to show they are "on" but the boiler does not fire.

The boiler is an ideal WRS440 quite old but has been serviced within the last year. A freind mentioned it may be a problem with the boiler thermostat losing sensitivity. Does this make sense, is thare an easy way I can check if this is the case? If not the thermostat any ideas as to what else may be causing the problem ?

sounds like the time control may be faulty, if it works normally on timed control

the timer appears to turn on and off correctly it's just hat the bolier does not fire up. I guess there could be some intermittent fault but the behaviour is farily consistent.
