Our boiler which is a Baxi pressurised system, only fitted 3weeks ago. It will nor fire up so the rads are stone cold and no hot water. The engineer came out and said its not the boiler its the return pipe, however our plumber who fitted the system doesnt think it is (although maybe now he has had his money he doesnt want to know) Any ideas how we can fix this or what else it could be? any help or suggestions would be welcome.

if the boiler was fitted only 3 weeks ago was the system power flushed or is all the pipe work new ?

Hi all,

OK, can you please check the last page on the installation booklet and see if he has commissioned your appliance? If he hasn't done that, or got someone else to do it, they haven't done the correct procedure maybe. If the boiler and system was checked properly on install, you shouldn't have any problems really

Keep trying to contact your plumber! Leave a message on his answer-phone. Is he GasSafeRegistered? If so, leave a message unless he contacts you, the next phone call will be too the GasSafeRegister for help ;)

Check the isolation valves underneath the boiler, just incase he has left one shut for some reason! Are there any led's lit on the boiler or display? Also, as above model please and or gc number would be helpful as well ;)

A multitute of faults could be present......

Who was the "Engineer" that diagnosed the return? Or when the plumber came back what did he do too the boiler, if anything?

What did the guy do to decide there was a blockage on the return?
The fact that it is not fireing and you have no hot water sugests to me that that is not the case.

Just to state the obvious.... are both Isolation Valves open on the boiler flow and return connections?

Start with the basics.

EDIT: Godknows has said the same. God DOES KNOW - perhaps!

Mr. W.

The fact that the engineer has been back out who fitted the boiler it's safe to assume the isolation valves are not closed unless he's a fu*$ing moron, the fact that he fitted a boiler i would guess he's not. and if they are closed god help anybody else he fits a boiler for

he did do a flush apparently, the boiler fires for a while then cuts out,the rads get a little warm but by that time the boiler has cut out again.
any ideas please???

Does it fire up at all?

What boiler is it?

What is the pressure?

the boiler did fire up for a while, but now it doesnt at all,the make is Baxi Main/solo and the pressure i dont know.
any ideas would be great
thanks

the old boiler was a worcester, and the system itself was installed as far as im aware 14 years ago when the house was built.the old boiler was ok and worked fine,Until we had the builders in and they took off two rads in the bathrooms and replaced with heated towel rails, since then it all went wrong and we was told we needed a new boiler, which we have had,and which worked great for three weeks then it packed up,the boiler guy as its under warrenty looked at it and said its a blocked return pipe, however the plumber who fitted it doesnt want to know and doesnt return our repeated calls.

i would hazard a guess and say its linked to whatever work the builders completed.
Out of curiosity make sure all the valves on the towel rails are all fully open and try the boiler.

Are you On a 1 pipe system? (are the flow and return picked up from the same pipe)
