Hello, I’ve got an ideal w2000 rs30 gas boiler.

I’ve got a bit of an intermittent problem. When I call for either hot water or heating the boiler doesn’t fire up.

Sometimes the boiler comes on but if I boost it for 30 minutes it goes off within 10 minutes.

I can here the motorised valve moving so it’s not that. What’s likely to be wrong and needs testing?

The pilot light is lit and doesn’t ever go out!

Help will be appreciated

Thanks Daniel

If you are capable of testing mains electricity, then see if there is 240V at the boiler when HW or CH is being called for.

If there isn't any power to the boiler when heat is being called for, then I would suspect the fault lies in the wiring and/or motorised valve(s). The Valve needs to move to open as required, but it also then needs to activate a microswitch to provide power to the boiler/pump. What valve do you have?

If there is power to the boiler, then there is no more you can do, you will need a Gas Safe engineer who understands these older boilers.

I’m more than capable to change it. Was just wondering if anyone has more knowledge than me on these boilers

sorry but if you were more than capable of changing it, then you would be more than capable of testing to see if that was your problem, it is against site rules to give you gas advice
