Hi all

Moved house last week and there was a gas issue outside today, and since the boiler has not fired. It’s a Potterton Kingfisher 2 CF100.

I have tried resetting the gas valve to try and get it to spark but nothing. It’s the the igniter isn’t actually sparking itself

Any clues, getting cold and no heating or hot water

Many thanks in advance

There will be someone along soon to try to help but in the meantime:

1) What was the "gas issue outside today"?
2) Which gas valve and how have you 'reset' it?

All sorted. Turned out ignition has some crud on there. But of a tap cleared it and it ignited

It has a permanent pilot, which might have been lit for months or years, so if the igniter has failed you wouldn't know. But they're very reliable. Are you sure it isn't sparking? The "gas issue" wouldn't affect the igniter. You might have air in the gas pipe because of the issue. Found operating instructions easily enough on the web. Says on initial start-up crack a union at the boiler to purge air, but no doubt you'll be told you mustn't do that if you're not GSR. Assuming the igniter is OK, and there's not too much air, you might try holding the pilot ignition plunger down for for a while, using the igniter occasionally, till it lights.
