Boiler problem

I had no hot water and tried throughout the day, thought it may be an air lock. Water presssure was ok. Then the heating decided to come on without it being switched on but still no hot water. After eventually getting the heating to go off, tried the hot water again and it started to run, except it is now hotter than it's been before. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Some further info about your system, type of boiler, make/model might be good.

It's a Brittony combi boiler.

What you have described indicates an intermittent fault.

I cannot make any useful guesses without seeing the boiler.

In any case a guess is just that and has no useful place in fault diagnosis.

Thanks for your reply. I'm a bit worried that it could be dangerous if the water is running very hot, I know this sounds a bit stupid but it's because it's hotter than before. Can it cause any damage to the boiler?

If you are concearned Get a Gas Engineer to have a look, As Agile has already said we can only "Guestimate" the cause of your problem, you need an Engineer infro nt of your boiler
