I am assuming it is OK to replace only the head of the PRV rather than the whole brass fitting. Correct?

You may find the problem with your PRV is not solved doing this. If the valve seat is damaged, then it will still leak.

Kenny d, You asked for advice, but really you want a cheap option. A prv is a safety valve, so go for it.

By the time you have relieved the pressure and drained the appliance to replace the head, you may as well bite the bullet, undo the outlet connection, remove the clips holding it in place and whip it out, grease up the 'o' rings and replace it like for like......

just sayin'

OK The whole thing is being replaced. I wasn't looking for cheapness but the easy way of doing it. Thanks for all the comments.
