My new house has a Sime Halstead Combi 30/90 installed by the previous owners some 8 to 10 years ago. I have no manuals with the boiler. The temperature gauge doesn't work but the pressure gauge does albeit I don't know at what pressure the system should be running. The face of the gauge is marked with a red arrow at 1 bar. Should the system be running at, above or below this pressure? Moreover, could this be casuing the following problem; the hot water runs cold and needs the reset button pressing if running for a prolonged period (e.g. filling the bath). Unfortunately I suspect the boiler was the 'chepaest' option and is not really up to the job (a 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, kitchen & heating to supply).
Can anyone advise on the pressure, suggest a quick fix to make the current boiler run better and/or options to replace? A more powerful & reliable combi?
Cheers!
P.S. we are in a hard water area and no water treatment has been in place.
