I have a Potterton Neat Hear 10-16 boiler, when the boiler is cool it starts fires up perfectly, gets up to temperature and then cuts out like it should and then fires back up as it should. The problem is after its been running for an hour or so it takes forever to establish a pilot light, you can hear and see the spark being generated but it takes a good couple of minutes for the pilot to ignite, any advice would be appreciated, Thanks in advance

Sticky gas valve. Corgi job. New valve is expensive too.

thanks for the quick reply Chris but i do not think its the gas valve sticking you can hear the solinoid crack on the start up procedure and when the pilot does eventually light you get a large flame across the burnner which is showing their is gas there

Ok, that isn't normal "lighting the pilot"!. So boiler needs a service. They are known to do what you describe. They get worse until an ignition blows the boiler to bits. Don't try to do it yourself.

Will need pilot injector cleaning Only by a pro as potterton netaheat are positive fan flued boilers & gaskets seals etc must be in perfect condition or you may have excessive c.o. levels
