Here goes. Had to fit a new twin channel electronic timer as the old one died, there was a switch on the back of the new one which had the choice of pumped or gravity fed so I selected pumped. Also did some other work, new filling loop, which required me to drain the boiler, and a new radiator, which required the heating pipes to be drained. I refilled the system following the instructions (lock motorised valve in midway position) The problem now is that the whenever the hot water is switched on the heating comes on regardless of whether or not the heating is switched on. There is no response to the room thermostat when this is happening.
I am guessing the motorised valve is playing up or some kind of safety device dumping excess heat through radiators for some reason. The timer was replaced a few weeks before the other work but not sure when the problem started. Any advice appreciated.
