hello all

A while since I've posted.

Thought I'd try a different bonding agent before skimming and I've had a go with blue grit.
Normally I've used Wickes bonding agent (WBA), but thought I'd try something different and cheaper.

Normally with WBA it needs a good stir up, but dries quite quick and gives decent results.

The blue grit had some mixing but the aggregate was already well dispersed.
It went on fine, but took longer to dry. Left it overnight in the end before skimming.

When I skimmed, I found it has given like a wavy effect in places, where the aggregate was thicker and the trowel edge kind of went up and down over it. The second coat reduced a lot of the undulations but it is still noticeable in places.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with blue grit? Or is it driver error on my part getting it too thick?
