Hi all,

After finding lots of plaster that's falling away from the brickwork and having chipped it away I'm going to bring the level of the plaster to original in preparation for the plasterer to skim. However I've got a couple of questions that I hope you can answer.

1/ Is it best to use browning or bonding plaster for the layer against bricks and under the final skim?

2/ From reading other messages I think I should be using dilute PVA glue 2 hours before applying the plaster, Is this correct?

3/ Do I need to score the plaster just before it sets to give the skim something to bond into?

Thanks in anticipation

FK.

Bonding is fine. a coat of pva is used to kill the suction in the brickwork and seal any dust use a bit more water than 50/50 and scoring will give a good key for the scim coat

You can use browning as well if that's what you've got or sand and cement (4 sand, 1 cement) as an alternative to bonding
