I have been looking for some 18v hedge trimmers that will take the same
battery as the power tools that I already own, but I am struggling to find
    any. does anybody have one?

Yes me neither, if I had Makita tools I would have plenty of choice.
Maybe they are going to bring some out soon!

Ryobi do their One+ kit all on same battery.
