We have quite a lot of conifers in our new garden, I’m looking at hedge trimmers and platforms.
I have ryobi one power tools but I will probably end up buying a stihl petrol trimmer as I’m not sure how long the run time would be on the batteries.
I just wondered could anyone recommend something they use?
The height of the conifers is presently around 10 to 12 feet.

I recently hired a Stihl petrol long reach hedge trimmer, it was excellent. They also do a 36 volt battery version.

In terms of the batteries, unless they are really poor quality, it's not so much the run time as the torque/power, but they should be fine with conifers if it's just a trim.

Blup

Definitely get a good, manoeuvrable platform as opposed to working off steps/ladders with a power tool.
