Bosch WFF1401, drum wont spin

Hi, our Bosch washing machine seems to have packed up, its around 9 yrs old, the programer seems to be working, its clicking through the cycle and its filling / emptying through the cycle but the drum isnt turning.

Before I pull it out and start to strip it down is there any simple solution to this problem? i can hear it operating but im not sure if its the drive motor for the drum or the pump. the drum is free to turn by hand, so there isnt anything jamming it.

Any advise would be appreciated thanks.

If it is the brushes worn down you may find that a dealer will tell you the whole motor backplate needs to be replaced. However the brushes only can be replaced with a bit of effort. the problem is getting hold of just the brushes..
