Bottom Entry Fill Valve - Sealant or no Sealant?

Evening all,

got to fit a bottom entry fill valve tomorrow, been recommended to use some sealant around the washer (inside the cistern). What do people think? Instructions don't mention it

As above, if the washer is tapered it wont leak but if it's a cheapo flat washer I put a smear of Jet Blue to be on the safe side.

Not normally needed, but I personally always put some Dow Corning 785 on the washer on the inside of the cistern.
