I have some hardwood door frames which I left stored for a few months. Now that I want to install them, some of them are bowed by up to 8-10mm. I guess they bowed gradually as they dried up.

Is it possible to straigthen them prior to installation or is it necessary to force them back into shape on installing them. They already have the finish so I cannot plane them. They are 25-35mm thick

it is possible to straighten them by fixing, provided of course they are bowed a certain way and that you can achieve decent fixings.

if they are bowed along the rebate ie either bowing the opening smaller or larger then yes.

if they are bowing with the rebate ie bowing into one room or the other then you will struggle.

They are bowing 'into the door' I think this is along the rebate
