Hi, I have a 2004 Renault Clio 1.5 DCI, when I brake at anything over 40 MPH there is a 'shuddering' that I can feel through the brake pedal, I have had the discs and pads replaced, and the n/s wheel bearing replaced (because there was a bit of wear in it) but the problem persists, the car has ABS, any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanyou in advance.

Does it happen however lightly you brake?

Tyres? Shock absorbers? Faulty ABS management unit?

Have you asked your Renault dealer to diagnose this?

I would have suspected a warped disc, but they have been replaced. When abs is activated the brake pedal pulses as the brakes are electronically released and applied again. As Softus says have the dealer check it out. Have the rear brakes been looked at as the drums, if it has drum brakeson rear may be oval

Thankyou both for your helpful replies, when braking quite firmly at about 60 MPH the juddering is very noticeable, but when braking normally at about 30 MPH it brakes pefectly, the tyres are all new, and for what it's worth I had the tracking adjusted last week, My local Renault dealer is not very helpful! If it is the ABS management system is this something that a reasonably competant DIYer could do?
Thankyou again.

Contact Renault UK, and ask them to recommend a helpful and competent dealer. If they recommend your local one, then, without saying why, ask them to recommend a different one. Make them go and find out why you don't like them.

No. It takes specialist equipment and knowledge.

No point going to a Renault dealer then

It would be worth having a look around the front suspension making sure every thing is OK. I assume the pads and discs etc were fitted to try and cure the problem. Were they fitted by a garage or your self.
You can do a quick check on the rear brakes by driving at 20 mph and apply the hand brake gently, keeping the release button press in, if there is any problem such as distored drums etc then you can usually feel it through the handbrake.

When the discs were replaced was the hub flange where the brake disc sits cleaned of corrosion properly?? could be a high corrosion spot on the flange.

 I said flange

abs sensors are another favourite, make sure the pick up rings that the sensor reads are not dirty/damaged,maybe someone damaged a sensor or failed to connect back up properly when working on the brakes and bearing
