Our brand new dryer does not work. After a few minutes, it beeps and shows error message E60 on the screen, then stops. We called Cust Services and under warranty so they sent round an engineer who said the hole in the wall was not big enough for the air to exit, so we had someone drill a large hole. Still got the same problem. Oh, and the Lint Filter is perfectly clean.

I went outside and could only feel cold air blowing out of the vent.

Can anyone advise? Thanks.

E60 on Electrolux dryers is usually a heater fault (makes John Lewis machines)

Posting the PNC will usually helps us to help you more

The thermostat could have failed (not familiar with your machine as we don't see JL branded machines here and I don't know what one it is based on) preventing it from being able to heat up.
Some have a reset button at the rear for the thermostat (usually under a red cover if fitted). This quite often happens when the air vents are restricted in some way (crushed vent hose, sharp bends, not been cleaned of fluff, blocked vent pipes in wall and grills outside).

Now that you've proved that the cause of this problem is not inadequate venting, get them to send a technician out again to sort out the actual problem.

Simples ! . :D

Will do, thanks.

However, the (independent) builder who came did say that the hole that had been drilled initially was tiny - so something was definitely wrong there...now it seems there's also an inherent fault with the machine itself. Not very impressive for JL...

Looks like whoever can out just assumed that the small ventilation hole was the problem and didn't bother checking anything else. .

He should have checked the machine out thoroughly and made sure everything was in order.....
