This pillar has become detached 4 courses down as shown. The whole top pillar has come detached. What is the best method to repair? Thank you

Exterior construction adhesive is easiest by a country mile, Then rub a bit of sand and cement into the cracks to mask.

I'd say that's an old Victorian wall judging the stone on top?
That latch may have been added at a later date with cement hence it's looks in poor condition.
Probably lime mortar?
If so I'd not use cement.
Remove pilar and rebuild is best way.
Point wall with lime mortar if required.
Coat wall in stormdry.
Come back in 100 years and see how it looks.

Best way is to rebuild , but I did once repair a small post by lifting off and squirting in resin and dropping it back on .

I have done temporary fixes where the brick on edge at the top had come away. I used Stiksall (clear MS polymer).

Years later, the bricks were still in place.

The client only wanted it to last a few years and didn't want to pay for a brickie to come in to deal with 4 bricks.

TBH, I didn't even think of using the single gun resin. I guess the cure time would be much faster than the MS polymer.

Yes cures in minutes.
