I have one section of new walling up now and all looks good, but when the brick drys out it does look a little different to when it is wet. When wet it is much more vibrant in colour. When dryer it is duller and has more marks on it.

The bricks are reclaimed and i have used lime mortar.

The bricks were pretty wet when i laid then in sep/oct, so maybe they were to wet. I still have loads to do when the weather gets a bit warmer. So is it important that i cover up the bricks stored in the garden ?

Would you use a brick acid to get off some marks. These marks are not mortar marks, but something else. Maybe some effervescence is going on.
