Hi.

I have removed a brick wall at the perimeter of my front garden.

I am replacing the wall with fence panels, of which I am cementing in concrete fence posts.

I need my posts to lie deeper than the foubdation of the existing brick wall.

having never done this before, can someone please help - should I just use a wrecking bar to smash my way through the foundation (so I can get my post deeper), or is it quite thick?

Many thanks.

You'll have no chance trying to poke through a concrete foundation with a wrecking bar unless it really is poor concrete and not as thick as it should be, which is a minimum of about 200mm or so - but could easily be half a metre or more. The only way I see you doing this it is drilling through or cutting and pulling the concrete out altogether. I wouldn't want to be doing either without a machine.
