Hi all,

We have a blue British Gas Multihead II pump which lives in an airing cupboard in an upstairs bedroom just over our kitchen. When we're in the kitchen we've noticed a constant lowish humming sound and traced it to the pump. It seems to stay quite hot whether the boiler/central heating is on or off. Is this normal and is the humming normal? We know next to nothing about plumbing, so haven't a clue whether we need to be concerned or not. It's currently set on mark 3 (there are 3 settings, 1, 2 & 3).

Any advice would be much appreciated.

It would probably be better on setting "2".

Without knowing anything about your system I cannot say anything more than its not expected that it should run all the time.

It may be a fault or it may have been wrongly connected since installation or the last repair.
