I charge a fixed price by the job and hot water is quickest.
I knowethat Kevins charges are quite reasonable but he does charge for the time spent so a slow hairdrier is still making the job longer/costlier.

even if the water is standing after it cools you can clear it away if you are concerned. it will also depend where it is....a bit of ice in the middle of a 4ft snow drift is of little concern IMO.
