Just had a new boiler fitted by british gas, the electrician they sent connected up the timer & other electrical bits to do with the system, then did his testing. He has left a test sheet (minor works certificate) but should I also have a copy of a part p form ? if so I'll have to get on to british gas to see if their sparks is part p compliant because I he hasn't left one.

If you didn't ask at the time, ring the office and check with them.

Doesn't the minor works cert sign off as saying certified competent person?

The latest is, the electrician was a subcontractor to BG, they are gonna call back to let me know if he is part p compliant but did say all their contractors are nic approved.

being niceic approved doesnt make any difference to part P. exactly what electrical work was carried out and where? it might be exempt fom part p and have a minor works cert to go with it

If a small firm like British Gas don't understand the rules, what chance has anyone else got?
