Any ideas on the following? My Britony Combi 80 is giving the following problem. It is of an intermittent nature and really annoyng.

The unit works fine in CH mode for what seems about a hour at a time then will give a lock out. Reset via the front panel and it fires up again with no problems for another period of time. It never ever fails to reset. On the DHW side the boiler will supply hot water with no problems. However sometimes when demanding hot water the lock out will activate and has to be reset. The boiler never fails when supplying hot water ie during a shower etc.
I have changed both PCB's, the diverter valve has been changed. I have tested and proved both flow switches (DHW/CH). Air vent is clear. CH filter has been cleaned. Air pressure switch tested and proved. Gas delivery valves check out. Gas filter checked and cleared. Jets checked. Fan and flue. All seems well. Thermistors checked and proved. Over heat protection proved. Am I missing something? I can stand at the sink and turn the hot water tap on and off for more than dozen times in succession and the boiler works. The unit is working as I type but I can't trust it.
(I am a serving merchant Marine Engineer Class One combined certified, usually working on 4600Kg/hour gas boilers and this mickey mouse unit is driving me nuts).

13/1/08. I have done a bit more probing. Pressure vessel was a little low at 3psi. Lifted value to 10psi. Thought that had cracked it, but no.

If it was a sticking gas valve or a sticking flow switch (all of which have been checked) why does pushing reset unstick a stuck valve?

You could put your mortgage on the reset working every time, whats happening when the reset is pushed?

Anybody got a circuit diagram for the PCB's?

PS my Britony 80 is the older type without the green temp led's only the green run amber flame and red lockout.

Cured the problem. Scrapped the boiler!

No replies to my query so guess it had you all flumuxed. All the best to DIYnot.com
