This boiler is at least 10 years old, serviced annually as it belongs to the landlord.
This year, since mid-December, it has been cutting out on central heating after progressively shorter periods. The last time, it cut out (red light) after trying twice unsuccessfully to fire up after being on for one hour.
There has so far been no problem with hot water.
The engineer is in despair after several visits; a new PCB and overheat sensor, new heat exchanger, system flushed. The landlord is reluctant to replace the boiler with a new one.
Any new ideas from you experts? I would appreciate non-technical jargon replies, as I am a 70-year old with no expertise of my own. Thank you.
