Hi all,

I've read a few posts about probs with Worcester Bosch 240s and have deduced that my pump is dead. It makes a grating sound, overheats and clearly isn't getting the water through the combustion chamber because the pressure quickly spikes and the gas cuts out.

My question is: what could have caused the pump to go?

I don't want to replace a pricey pump only to discover that the previous one was broken by a blockage that still remains. Is there any "common cause failure" I should look out for.

Thanks in advance.

most pump failures are as a result of dirt in the system.

This causes wear to the pump bearings.

Pieces of debris also block the impeller.
