My radiator is not getting hot. There is water in it and all the others are fine. My friend said I need to bleed it, by undoing the bleed nut and letting the water catch into a bucket until the radiator gets hot. I have seen people do this before. Will it work? If it won’t work, why do people do it?

Bleed rads to get air out not water, but maybe your mate didn't explain himself properly. Are you sure both rad valves are open? Does rad get warm at all when heating on? Do either of pipes connected to valves get hot?

What do you mean by broken radiator?

Has it ever worked? when did it stop? why?

It was working fine until i had a leak and the water was shut off to replace a pipe. Since then one radiator will not work when turned on.

hi there,
has the radiator got a thermostat on it? it will look different to the other radiator valve thats on the other end and will be numberd 1 to 5, if so take the head off and there will be a pin, give the pin a rattle with a hammer untill it moves up and down and then put the head back on.

or

does the radiator get warm at the top and cold at the bottom, if so this means that the radiator has got a build up of muck and rubbish and needs taking off and flushing out by hand.

or

double check that the lock shield valves are deffinetly open

or

turn off all your other radiators and let the water blast round the radiator that isnt working, your system could be air locked.

try them.
