Can someone tell me what this is on the end of the radiator, it looks like a broken trv, but not sure. I have a radiator in porch that is on full that I want to turn off thanks.

Yep TRV one end, not familiar with the other end, although presumably a lockshield, possibly tamper proof.

Right side is a TRV ,with no head on it.
The left is a lockshield ,which if you close down will prevent rad from heating up

So the left hand side were there is a nut if I turn this it will close the valve? And which way?.

Clockwise. And it's the nut that sits in the "well" , not the square shaped one on the far left end.

Sorry for late reply but that doesn't turn rad off, also the picture is a little misleading, that but doesn't sit in well it's above it.

If you want the rad off the TRV (broken end) will be like it’s on full whack, turning off one should stop it, but obviously not.

you turn that flat bit clockwise till it stops and the rad wont heat up

Yeah gave it one more quarter turn and rad now off thanks, now trying to sort out knocking noise from pipes, I turned the water of and ran the taps ( hardly any cold water), lots of hot water from the tank I guess, and have slowly turned it back on and turned the boiler back on and knocking is less but not gone completely, I have standard boiler with hot water tank, and 2 tanks in the loft, have check both ball Cocks and they both work, but have a tapping noise coming from the living room wall, expansion?.
