Hi

I have a problem with the corner tread on my stairs. It is broken and sags when weight is put on it. Do you have to be able to get in from underneath to replace a wooden tread or can it be done from above. Underneath stairs is boxed in and artexed.

to do a proper safe job you need to remove the riser from the front and the back then slide the tread out of the slot cut into the string

you will have to remove the screws and nails holding the tread and risers together break the glue bond and remove the wedges

non of which can be done from above
